Curious - Is there a point in time during the flower cycle were a male plant stops growing pods ?

I see nobody answered this so I will try.
I've maintained a male pollinator for around ten months, and I discovered it can be kept growing just like a mom can; prune from time to time, that's basically it. The plant stayed in flower and producing pollen the whole time.
