How could someone get in trouble online?

The Puffin Afatty thread got me thinking. How could someone get in trouble online?

If someone square (does not approve) found someone elses account how could evidence be used against them?

Could MarP ever be forced to give up info from the server?


My Example: I have a prescription in California to smoke medicinally. I grow less then 12 plants. Only ever 4 mature plants. I follow the laws. If federal law enforcement wanted to find me, could they?, and if they could, is it possible that I could get in trouble. I know local law enforcement follows the state's laws so I am not worried there. I have been to court a few times and had all cases dismissed.

I, personally, am not worried. But to those in other states w/o MMJ laws, or those without scripts in states that do, or even those that "overgrow" more then the could smoke...should any of us be worried?


Anyone who can comment, or anyone with different questions on this topic, go ahead and post it up in this thread.

I think you misunderstood his getting in trouble. He had family members that are leo. His wife did not know or approve of him growing, nor the rest of his family. Mar Pass server is outside usa jursidiction.
 
Even so I think a forum such as this one where we post our ideas and questions, and shoot the breeze with our friends would not be admisable evidence to incriminate, I think it is along the lines of heresay ?
 
I am understanding that puffin had his own situation. But Im asking generally speaking. Could a computer savvy local cop trace you down and build a case? You know...those crazy situations only a stoner could construe in his baked mind. :rofl:

I want to agree...but its all such a gray area with today's laws. I have had cops say "Wow, a medical card; can I see it!?" and "Wow, a medical card, these things aren't real, you got ripped off by some doctor I sure."

I have had a cop smell my weed and give it back.

I have also been to jail for possession intent because I had a scale on me.


Could someone on here in say -The Philippines- get in caught for posting pictures of 100 plants in their greenhouse. What would be a law enforcements plan of attack to track a person on a forum?

I am just curious.

In Malaysia, a man faces death for less than two pounds of marijuana... in China 3 men were executed for growing 25 plants...

I got the card just so I am protected from Ocifers of the law in California. Has my pic on it and a number. Call in the number and my info comes back. I grow what the state allows. I do not expect my computer to be involved in a federal drug case. I imagine if the USER was a federally wanted person....like a smuggler/ rapist / terrorist, their computer might be used as some kind of evidence. If I lived in Malaysia, or China, I would think twice bout growing and just not do it. Dang that is harsh.

there is a situation at another forum, where someone living in Cali was busted by the feds. Clearly they had been watching him for sometime. It wasn't his computer that got him in trouble. although they confiscated that as well. So if they want you, they will get you. But I doubt it will have anything to do with your computer accessing different sites. Most leo have far more important things to do than go after newbies and all the others here. There are much bigger sites with shady characters that attract much more attention, IMO.

I'm with Hick, if they want you they got you without the aid of this site or your computer. They got some hard crap on you to get a warrant and bust you. An informant, a sale, stealing or too high electricity use, something but not this box... :p
PS Hey LEO, well... nevermind... never taunt the negative!
 
just stay clear in the real world. i hate the police they just jacked my ounce of meds
 
Plus with privacy laws..the computer isn't the best way to get ya too expensive and local LEO doesn't have the resources. Feds don't care about 1 lb- grows they want those feilds worth 20 million (so they say).
People like us they wait for us to screw up in the real world or have someone rat us out. not once have i seen a computer bust from a grow forum just from posting. Another member outing them yes, but not just merrily posting along.
Just be creful what info you post and remember what info you have posted..take enough posts and put them all together you could find something to lead, but that again is a ton of effort for not much of anything.
 
..At risk of appearing 'political', I still feel compelled to post this. I sure hope none of our members have accessed the gubuments "cash for clunkers" site...

I drove in for the cash for clunkers...they said mine was too clunky and turned me away :p

(thats just freaky that they can do that....i guess by agreeing to it they can do anything they want...sorta like inviting a cop into your home without a warrant, i guess i'm a geek i always read what i'm agreeing to ;) )

Access? Not just access.

Total, unblocked use and REPORTING of anything they find on it, no matter what, to the POLICE.

No kiddin.

Anyone who allows this has their brain turned off.
