As Mrcane says I go 18 -6 with young plants indoors. This is strain specific however. If you have plants that are autos or part auto they may start to flower even with 6 or 8 hours of darkness.

I ordered from the Doc several times a few years ago. The service was great and his rep was A-1. In the last year or two I have heard many horror stories about his service. It seems things have gone to hell there so I would buy elsewhere if I were you.

Deer will do this but they will not eat plants once they begin to bud. When growing outdoors do not use molasses, blood/bone meal, fish ferts etc. They are way too attractive to bears, coyotes, foxes, coon etc.

You don't say what strain you have. Most will reveg when placed outdoors unless they are an auto-flowering strain, in which case they will continue to flower.
