subterrainian termites----they are getting into my plants,what can I use besides poisions?

my plants were about 1/3 of the way buded when they quit and the plants went back to growing again instead of budding.They have grown numerious sprouts every where.I have grown out-side many years and this has never happen before. Like second growth.What did I do wrong?
