Commercial Farm Compost or Potting Soil?

Hi Group,
I don't know now IF I can borrow a pickup truck on Saturday, to go 40 miles, for farm-made potting soil, which I just hunted down this afternoon, so I was wondering...
Would there be any difference in growing, using (just) potting soil, or (just) compost?
I'd have to add perlite, vermiculite etc to loosen up the compost, add my "soil" amendments, but other than those, compost would work, wouldn't it?

Kind of a simple question, but it's important to me & this Summers' garden.

Hi Group,

I just heard from that McEnroe Farm, and I guess that I am NOT buying their soil.

It's $119.00 per cubic yard!!! :holysheep:

That's just Insane In the Brain, couldn't possibly afford that.

Oh well, back to the drawing board!
