Thought this might help people post links without making them live which is against site rules. Changing hTTp to hXXp is one way but there is a much simpler way and it only involves unchecking one little box.

Above the manage attachments button there is three boxes.
Show signature
Automatically parse links in text
Disable smilies in text.

If you uncheck the Automatically parse links box then you can copy your links in as is and they will not show up live. Making it easy for anyone who wants to go to that link to just copy the whole thing.

Examples:

Attitude>>>https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/

Nirvana>>>>http://www.nirvanashop.com/en/

Sow Amazing Seeds>>>http://www.sowamazingseeds.com/

This is the area I am talking about. Clipboard01.jpg

will do just incase i do deciede to post a link thanks for the good info

One thing I just found out about is if you go back to edit the post you posted the links in you must uncheck the box again before saving it. Trying to see if there is something in the settings to make the box remain unchecked all the time.

were was ths 10 yrs ago lol

Unfortunately though if you quote a post that does not use the HXXP or something similar the link goes live.

Yeah ya gotta uncheck the box...I wonder if MArP could just make in unchecked by default? I looked and could not find a way to change the settings.

:yeahthat:

Would be great if we could save it as unchecked in our settings.

I would hope so, because otherwise the OP of the link is expecting others to keep the link broken. If they did default it then you would not be able to have in house live links without clicking something more.:(

IMO I would keep it the way it is and just use the HXXP for outside links, this would give it a more in-house type of forum(big family)

Most people do not take the time to read the rules and do it right the first time. Do you think they will take the time to do it the second time?:confused2:

I think the fear factor here is that clicking on links from here to outside leaves a trail. I always copy and paste the link in a fresh browser window.
