I've done it to reverse the clone and pollinate the mother. The clone only had a few nodes, but it was enough for my purposes.

I have a clip on phone magnifier and a couple of the wireless hand held "microscopes", but lately I've had more luck just using a rubber band to strap a jeweler's loupe over the phone lens. They all take a steady hand to get decent trichome pics, though. With the loupe : )

The flower room turns out to be infested with thrips. I thought I had killed them all, but they managed to survive. I have sticky traps setup, and they have been clear for weeks. But a few days ago I took the (not) pollinated SF plant out to look for seeds, and some adults apparently escaped...
