I know on 1 plant, in a 6" pot, the bottom 1" or so of the whole root system detached; will this definitely cause damage or death?

I have 5 healthy plants that are under fluorescent light 24/7; I have just transplanted these into larger pots and was wondering how long it will take to show evidence of trauma/damage. I understand that they may be somewhat traumatized but what can I expect.

I am growing two plants indoors and am using two "natural sun " lamps for vegetative growth but have two mercury vapor lights i was going to use for flowering. Will i produce any quality bud with these bulbs or should I invest in HPS or MH bulbs? I am only trying to produce quality personal smoke.
