Using a Tripod will take care of that problem. I see them at Wal-Mart for $15 (ish) all the time...

Thanks for stopping by surreptitious :hubba: my plants pretty much spend their entire life under a 1000k. I start out with the light pulled all the way up, than move it down a couple inches everyday till I get to 14"~18" .... I actually want a little more stretch to be honest with you...

I don't know what everyone uses as their reflector, this is mine, a Sun system "Blockbuster" 6" 25"x25". This is my 5th tent, and hands down this is the best reflector I have ever owned, highly recommended.... EDIT: I run a 1000k in here btw...

I shoot with flash all the time and have had 0 effects on my plants. I even shoot with a high power flash sometimes. Check my latest pics in my journal to see how I use flash. Another thing you may want to do is 'diffuse' the flash some how, I bounce mine off the wall behind, or the ceiling, or...
