    400 vs 600 w hid

Ah....heat....my nemesis. My two rooms are running in the high 80's to low 90's during this summer....and am also seeing it have a negative effect on my plants. Yes, a 600 watt light is hot and a 400 is relatively cooler, but I wouldn't hold either in my hand while they're turned on. They're...

    Reintroducing myself

While it says I've been a member on here since sometime in 2014 I really haven't been very active on this site. There's only so many sites one can be active on and I have been focused elsewhere. RIU has turned into a piece of crap, and the other private site I have been active on has for me...

    Northern lights grow. Sensi seed

A buddy of mine gave me a clone labelled Northern Lights #5 and also Sensi Seeds "Northern Lights" seeds. I don't know the origin of the clone, but it's growing out much different than the SS NL....and in my opinion not as well as the Sensi Seed version. It looks like you're about 3-4...

I'm looking for a new line of nutes

I've been using Jack's Classic for two years now. Before that I was using General Organics. What a big difference once I switched to Jacks. First, it's so easy it feels like I'm cheating when growing with jacks. I put 1/2 tspn in 1 gal of water and feed. That's it....from beginning to end...

303 seeds has several strains that are high in CBD's.....I think both Ambulance and Meltdown may fit the bill for you.

    first grow,, finally

Unless you plan on watering those paper towels daily, may I suggest covering them with another plate? Paper towels dry out pretty quickly when exposed to air.

    carbon filter air scrubber

I fought bud-stink in my house for over a year with those automatic sprayers....I probably spent over $100 when it was all said and done. Then I got a carbon filter with a 400 CFM 6" fan and haven't bought another can of air spray since. I don't vent it outside the flower room for logistic...

    Photo Period Reversal

I've been playing around with re-vegged plants, some I put back into 12/12 straight away, others I've let a complete re-veg take place (it takes about 3-4 weeks of 18/6). The one's I put into 12/12 immediately end up not having any stem-vigor and pretty much grows laying down. Yield is so-so...

For those of you using 1000w HPS for flowering?

Those grow buddies I mentioned ended up just putting a desk fan pointing at their ballast and that seemed to make 'em last longer.

For those of you using 1000w HPS for flowering?

I have 2 magnetic ballast...both old as **** and never had a problem. I watch my grow buddies go through digital ballast annually.

    how many plants

Well now you've heard something good about a light-mover. Besides being able to cover a larger area with one light, it also eliminates constant shade from the upper canopy. Here's a good explanation of how it works: http://www.hydroponics.net/i/232000 I have about 50 plants under my 400/600w...

    Anything special about Smart Pots?

One thing I like about smart pots is that they are pliable (not rigid). I used 5 gal smart pots and in my veg cab I could squish them around to fit more in.....I couldn't do that with the 5 gal buckets. I like the smart pots with handles, and the smaller ones don't have 'em.

    2)-600 watts vs 1)-1000 watts

I like a mixed spectrum and have a 400w MH and a 600w HPS on a light-mover. I'm not sure why light-movers are always over-looked in regards to wattage per foot of coverage. I've run mine for over a year and have equal growth wall-to-wall.

    how many plants

It really depends on your hood design and the height you have it over your grow area. I know professional growers that use a 600w for a 4x4 table, so that's probably a safe number. Personally, I use a light-mover and easily cover a 4x6 room with a combination of a 400w MH and a 600w HPS.
