I concur with that THG. The curing process is critical to taste regardless of growing method.

If you like to scrounge like myself, then keep an eye out on trash day for the packaging for monitors, computers or pretty much any electronics. Most folks throw the silica gel packets away. And your helping the planet by recycling too!

Did he give you the base that they plug into? Since the description says "Ballast Required", I would guess that whatever these lamps plug into contains that ballast.

There is always the old rule of thumb as well. If it's too hot for the back of your hand, then it's too hot for your plants.
