Changing Light Source Mid-Grow - Problems

Makes sense. Thanks for the additional help, everyone. My issues are all fixed now.

Changing Light Source Mid-Grow - Problems

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It turned out to be a heat issue. I did have the light at about 50cm to start with, and it was just too hot. It didn't feel warm to the touch where the leaves were, but placing the light further away helped. ( I panicked a little because of the crazy plant...

Changing Light Source Mid-Grow - Problems

I have a few healthy looking plants grown on CFLs. Granted, they aren't crazy-healthy, but everything is green and the leaves fan out nicely. The CFLs are equivalent to about 550 watts. The plants do well with those lights 20-30cm away. (8-12 inches) I hooked up a 400 watt HPS, and the...

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

Hope not. I mentioned that earlier, but I have 5. One must be a she. :) All are experiencing the same symptoms. Not surprising, since all are receiving the same treatment. The one experiencing the least symptoms is the darkest green in color. That give anyone an idea?

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Here's what I've done. I lowered the temp a few degrees, so now it's between 24 and 26. I also raised the lights 5 inches. I haven't seen any change in condition yet. I'm inclined to believe that I don't have a heat problem, but I'm going to keep the...

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

That makes me feel a little better. I lifted the lights 2 inches and I'm running continuous fan now. Thanks. It's good to get some reassurance. I'm still interested in more input if anyone else has seen small ones like this. You can also tell me to stfu. :) They seemed to be doing pretty...

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

Yes. So, do you think that's the reason those little leaves are twisting like that? Anyone else think that? Ok. I said "I have what I have" because I thought transplanting them would be worse then letting them continue where they are. You're changing my thoughts on that. Btw, sorry I...

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

None at all. I think the soil is supposed to be good for 3 months, so I figured any feed right now would be overdoing it. I'll probably use different soil next time, but I have what I have right now.

Soil also has a little perlite mixed in. And it's a she hopefully. :)

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

Thanks for the reply. It's about 26 degrees C in there, and never gets hotter than 29. (about 80-85F) Humidity is about 60%. It's not uncomfortable with a hand placed where the leaves are. There is a fan, but I don't run it continuously. Think those are unfavorable conditions? Decent...

What's wrong with this little guy? He's twisting.

He's about a week old. That's a 150 watt equivalent cfl above him. He's in miracle grow soil. Ph is fine. I might be over-watering. Will over-watering cause this? Or, is there nothing wrong?

Please critique this hypothetical set up

Thanks for the constructive comments. Shouldn't I care more about Lumens than watts? I'm also concerned about energy usage and heat signatures. Given that, what would you suggest? I've spent a ton of time reading, but it's a lot to take in. My Lumen count was from the grow guide here, and I...

Please critique this hypothetical set up

Let's say I have about 18 square feet of area. There would be two 40 watt fluorescent fixtures (with two bulbs each). So, that's 160 watts. That's 12.000 lumens. Right? Is that enough, if I keep the bulbs near the tops of the plants? I'm planning two cool whites and two grow lights. Good...
