A traffic stop netted nearly $2 million worth of marijuana near Laredo.
A Texas Highway Patrol officer made the find after stopping a school bus on U.S. 59 on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Authorities say the vehicle was marked to resemble a United Independent School District bus, but it was a fake.
Inside they say they found 5,408 pounds of marijuana with an estimated worth of more than $1.7 million.
The driver fled the scene on foot. He is still at large.
DPS is pursuing several leads in connection with this investigation.
