600w with 400w

Hi all quick question...Can I use a 600w ballast and bulb with my 400w reflector? Its the 'euro reflector' fyi.

Reflectors are reflectors--they are really not sized specific to a certain bulb like ballasts. While a reflector made to house a 150W bulb will probably not work for a 1000W bulb, a 600W bulb in a reflector that you used a 400W bulb in will most likely be fine. Just make sure that there is enough room for the bulb and sufficient air movement around it.

Thanks that helps a lot. Just to clarify, this includes the IEC cable which connects to the ballast?

It should iff it is a standard hood fixture.
