Hey Now,
Progress!
We have 3 beans each of Fat Pete’s Cookies from SSSC, and Acid Patch Kids from Old SageSeeds. I’ll be putting together a few more 5 gal. pots for some more goodies from SSSC.
The obligatory first picture here. Just some toothpicks for markers. A while back I had a f*#k of time germing and since then just started putting the seeds directly in the soil. Have a pretty good average since.
Some tomatoes ready for the garden in the background.

I just started my second batch of seedlings. The first batch of germinated in paper towels and this batch I threw directly into the dirt and every single one of them popped. That seals it, no more paper towels for me

Looking good Billy
Thanks man!!

Oh heck yeah. I had a germing crisis a few years back. Tried all sorts of things to no avail soaking, grow plugs, paper towels. . . Now I prepare my pots with a good soak of liquid bone meal to bind up any excess salts, yucca extract for wetting, and some benes to kick start the soil, let all that sit and soak for a few days then beans right into the dirt. I spray to keep it damp until they sprout, cover the sprout for a few days and viola' it's a plant!!

Hey Now,
Have an update. Looks like everyone that’s going to pop has done so. We have 2 APK and 3 FPCA to start. I’ve made up 2 more pots and I’ll put some beans in this weekend.

Hey Now,
Sunday update time.
All that are gonna pop have popped so we have five plants. Not too shabby, 8 days in the dirt and around 5-6 days since they showed themselves. They all look pretty good at this stage. Going to drop some more beans in today. Here’s some pictures.

Looking good, farther/faster along than my next batch. 🙄 I used different soil this time (MG raised bed pouting soil) and I think it was a mistake. Light woody soil but no nutes in it. Time will tell, it does have earthworm castings bone meal and kelp meal in it along with poultry litter.

You gonna grow them in the same pot?😳
Three regular beans in each. Grow to sex, remove males and weakest females until one is left. I’ve been running regulars this way forever. . .
Don’t forget too, these are autos and as such really don’t do well when transplanted. Photos are a different story. They can transplant, etc. so make it easier to grow regulars. With the exception of being able to clone them, I love growing autoflowers.

I’m using recycled soil. Mostly NFTG #4 with some Happy Frog as well. I like it so far. As I don’t use salt based nutrients I’m not terribly worried about build up. Even so I have done one “flush” with liquid bone meal, that is Herculean Harvest from NFTG. Flushing with HH should bind up any salts and help to flush them out of the soil. What I did do was to prepare the pots with the HH flush as I mentioned then I “fed” the pots with some beneficial microbes and mycorrhizae along with something for them to eat, some yucca to enhance wetting (this seemed important as the over dry soil was really quite hydrophobic!). And as always SLF-100 enzymes and a splash of Mag Amped.

As peat breaks down, it makes soil acidic. I tried reusing soil without amending it and had pH related issues in the past. I thought since I was growing using organic soil and organic nutes that it would be ok. For me, it was not. Vegged fine but the flowers were small and sugar leaves got crispy.

True, true, and one reason among many not to use it. I suppose the breakdown of organic matter could be considered to be somewhat similar. There also a fair amount of inorganic and brown matter as well. I count on the breakdown of this to provide essentials. I usually do an occasional slurry test but with this grow I’ll be more rigorous. Keeping an eye on pH is critical anyways, but as you said and I suspect there will be some pH matters to attend to.

Hey Now,
Happy to report new seedlings have appeared! I put beans in two more pots on Sunday. This morning two of the three Ak47 x Haze from Super Sativa Seed Club have shown themselves! W00t!

Good Morning and welcome to my Sunday update on a Monday morning.
we now have 4 different strains going. I put 6 beans in and six popped. Screwed up a wee and lost one to damp-off but still have five started for a total of eight from SSSC and 2 including the APK. . Going to make up one more pot for some Burbon love.

Hey Now,
Another week goes by and well, here I am with another update.
Last we spoke I had 4 pots going. I’m sad to report one pot is out, of the three beans, two popped, both boys! Crap! The other pot started at that time, three beans, three popped, and wouldn’t ya know, three girls! The other two are doing well three and two going well. I was inattentive and damped off one, crap. Anywho, these look great with nice progress.
If you recall I’m using recycled soil. I’m happy so far. I have not fed yet either. No one looks hungry!! Even with flower happening in the 1st group. So far so good with this.
I will start two more 5 gal. Pots this week for dropping another batch of autos. Going to use the last three of the Acid Patch Kids and hope for girls. The boys look great, strong with nice structure. Also some Bourbon Kush auto from SSSC again.
Pictures for your amusement.
