Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) Have you had it?

Curious about your opinions. Long time users please chime in. I have heard that there is a medical syndrome caused by heavy use (20 times or more a month) of marijuana that causes extreme nausea, vomiting and the only relief is hot showers or capsican creams. Supposedly it is (has) become quite a bit more prevalent in Colorado.

Have any of your long time users ever experienced such a phenomenon? Is the medical industry "pulling my leg" about this? As a newbie this is something I wish to understand further. Note the word "understand". Just want to make sure I do not get into that situation.

I am 67 years old. I have smoked cannabis for 50 years. I smoke all day every day. Many of my friends are also old farts who smoke a lot and have for many years. I have never experienced anything like this and do not know anyone else who has. I have not even heard any anecdotal stories. Not to say that this isn't a real ailment, it well could be. I just think that if it is that it is very rare. Anti-cannabis people really latch onto any little negative thing that they can and the media reports it. It is logical that there may be a small percentage of the population that doesn't tolerate cannabis well. I don't think it is wide spread.

I read somewhere that this problem was related to the use of certain bug treatments...I believe the one I read about was residuals from the use of neem oil on plants...

That's interesting. I haven't made a connection with it but I wake up every day coughing and dry heaving my brains out.
I wonder if this is why?
I use a lot of neem oil outdoors too.

So very much appreciated, and I mean it!! Without sounding like a conspiracy theorists, I sometimes think that the "medical community" are scared spit-less that cannabis is going to be taken off the national list of Schedule 1 drugs, and be legalized. Thereby, anyone with any desire can grow their own medicine and their pill pushing days will dwindle.

Don't misunderstand, that I do believe we need doctors... good doctors, surgeons, specialist and the like, but sometimes it's so easy just to write a Rx for a pill when there are alternatives to explore.

Use grandevo, venerate, and regalia and you wont have those problems

I've smoked since I was 16, pretty much daily, with a 5 year break from '92 to '97.
That's 34 years of daily smoking and not only has this never happened to me, I had never even heard of this crap until this "study" came out.
If it IS happening all of a sudden I would be wondering what sort of chemicals they are using on their store bought commericial pot if this is an actuality.

The first day I was legal I came home and decarbed a bunch of pot and ate it. I had those symptoms. I threw up was sicker than a dog. I was pretty sure I was going to be the first one to die. If i had not known i had just od'd i would have gone to the hospital, I think that is what this is. too much pot.

This syndrome is extremely rare. I have never know anyone in my lifetime who has had it.
I sent a message to NORML a few years ago regarding this cannabis vomiting syndrome along with the article that featured it.
This is the response I received. I thought I would share it.

I've never experienced this. The worst I have personally gone through is the expectorant effect of wax. My sinuses drain instantly and I often expel everything from my stomach because of it. I was worried it was neem oil and then I realized I could actually breathe through my nose and overall I felt better.
It's a shame there are folks that suffer this way. Being that there are, there has to be something out there that can help them with their ailments.
