companion planting?

was reading around random stuff just wondering if any of you do this indoor or outdoor.hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companion_plants

garlic and mint to keep aphids away etc. any suitable plants for weed? probably a better idea with outdoor grows, less hassle and space taken up

I grow Marigolds around the border of my garden. I read that dear won't come near them.
