Yet another holiday that I cannot stand, except for "It's the Easter Beagle. Charlie Brown" and the candy. I have vengefully chewed off the heads of so many chocolate rabbits that I am surprised the Fanatical Animal Rights Terrorists haven't killed me yet. I hate pastels, too.

What to serve kids for Easter:

Roasted rabbit and tell them it's the Easter Bunny.
Balut, and tell them it's Easter eggs.
Chocolate rabbits injected with raspberry jelly -- self-explanatory.

If you are wondering what is in my avatar, this is a bigger version of it.

I get the spiritual significance and that it is sacred to many people. What I am ragging on is the commercialism.

Sacred? To who? When did a rabbit laying eggs become religious? Its may have a religious basis but imo it is far from a religious holiday anymore.:p

That is another thing. As an amateur zoologist I cannot reconcile egg-laying with rabbits. Monotremes are the only mammals that lay eggs. An Easter Platypus would make more biological sense.

:yeahthat:

Even when I was a kid 30+ years ago it was more about candy and egg hunting and not a lot to do with Jesus pulling a Zombie move and rising from the dead.

I forgot to add, rabbits and eggs are sacred symbols to Pagans -- fertility symbols -- and the holiday was Pagan in the first place, which is another reason for me not to observe it. It wasn't my intent to bash anyone's beliefs or discuss them at all.

Anyhow, I started this thread to see if there were any other "Easter Grinches" out there. The only holidays I like are ethnic ones (Juneteenth, Chinese New Year, St Patrick's Day) and patriotic ones (Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Veterans Day et cetera). :grinch:

All I'll say is you make the holiday what it is, if it has religious meaning to you or whatever.

Now, as for the commercialism of some holidays....yep, not good!

I have no issue with a paid day off work, but that's all it is to me.
