yes copper harbor and marquette. the ore dock is the one in marquette
about 100 years ago or 1973 I was the secretary to the innkeeper for the Ramada Inn in Marquette. Drove from home in Munising to Marquette and back each day the approx 6 months I worked there. Along the shore of Lake Superior. Now I hear there is casinos and such. Back then there was Chrismas MI post office that got busy once a year. And a point I'd have loved to have a cabin on.

small world. yeah a lot has changed in 45 yrs. up there things are getting touristy for sure, especially with mt biking gaining popularity. me and wife live downstate and often take spur of the moment trips to the UP without a hitch, up until maybe 3 yrs ago. still can, just have to know where camp and still that's getting hard. i can make marquette in 6 hrs just a touch south of flint we are. 2 yrs ago munising put in a mtb trail on the shore line west of 28 on the north end of the drag by the glass bottom tours. we experienced a crazy windstorm while riding those trails. it's only about 6 miles but we ended off course on the ridge line heading farther from the truck. trees were literally falling around us. one fell that was around 8" in diameter several yards from us. it was the most scared i've been in the woods. when we rolled into marquette there were 10'+ waves and no power, it was insane. anyhow thanks for bringing that memory back up.

you still have ties there?

No, when I left, no ties. Went from there to St. Pete FL. Talk about differences. I only have the ties of my good memories and one day I'd like to go back for a visit and see the house we were buying. Can you believe $6,300 was the price of a 2 story home? $70 a month house payments. But that was in the 1970s and Munising was about in the 1950s at that time.

not a fan of florida very much, but i do like the tampa bay area. houses up there now in town are 70-100k then average about 200 with some land and if you're on the water an old 2000sqft house are around 800k

In 2008 and 2009 houses were dirt cheap in Florida due to the housing crash.
