My grow room is 2'w x 4'L x 5'H and I am using 600watt hps. Is that enough light in there?

I've read here 5000 per sq ft....so 2x4=8x5=40? 5000x40=200,000 lumens?

I'm so confused......I have only half the light I need? Seems real bright in there now........

Help! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!:vap-leafy_wave:

2x4=6 square feet of growing area.

6x5000(lumens)= 30,000 lumens are needed to achieve 5000/sqft

600 watt gives off roughly from between 90,000 to 95,000 lumens

A 600 would work great if you can control the temps. A 400 would also work.

When you figure your lights out, you just used length and width and not the height. you figure light in square feet.

I think you lost 2 sqr feet on the first calculation...shld be 8 sqr feet and 40,000 lumens.

Like pc said...if you can control the temps a 600w owns a 400w allday everyday. You get the most bang for your buck lumen to watt wise.
