General info about a new grow needed please.

i know you said you are looking at led lighting but i also see that you want to keep your plants short. i needed that too as my tent is 4 feet tall. i have only grown with t5's and cfls so i am not an expert by any means but i veg using 10000 kelvin t5 bulbs and my plants, regardless of strain, have all been very short and stocky during veg. the guy at the grow store recommended the bulbs. i don't know if he had too many in stock or what but regardless, my plants like them and with lst'ing, they were probably all less than a foot and a half tall when i flipped to flower and i was able to flower in my tent without having the stretch get too the point where the lights were up against the top of the tent. my last grow i got around 10 oz's(total) off of 2 plants. they were thai so sativa dominant plants which i think are supposed to be tall stretchy girls. sorry. i rambled there. my point is that you could probably get a 2ftx2ft t5 fixture with 10000 kelvin bulbs for pretty cheap to veg with. i concede to the experts here if they have other experiences with the 10000 kelvin bulbs(i think they are more aquarium bulbs)...

You may run into problems with a short tent and LEDs. I am not running LEDs, but it is my understanding that they have to be kept quite a ways away from the top of the canopy. You might check with one of the others running LEDs now.
