It is ok to let the plants get dry. If the soil around the roots stays wet constantly and doesn't dry the roots will start to rott out. You can water them any way you like, but I prefer watering from the top down. Once the soil is dry about an inch and a half deep from the top it is usually time to water again.

Ah okay, Well I just noticed all the water that was in the bottom of
the resevoir got sucked up and is gone now. I will check the
soil in a couple days to make sure its doing good about 1.5" deep.

So Thats all I need to do for now then? No taking the tips
of the 2 leaves off? Heard it helps with THC production.

Also, If I cut the lights off at 6pm. Then cut them back on at 12
tonight. And follow that routine, it should be the right schedule.:D

Hey guys, Im just now actually trying to grow some decent weed from
some decent seeds I got from some decent weed. alright? Ive had
5 foot plants before, But mostly just by putting one in the ground outside,
and one time in a 5 gal bucket with regular dirt from outside.... Now IM trying to actually grow something that isnt going to completely suck for my own enjoyment. To hell with buying weed, I dont have the overhead for that:D

Im shooting for something in the 3ft range, Little on the bushy side.
Heres what I have now, I AM on a budget, And Im not looking to be
a power grower... but This is what I need advice on at the moment.
I know this isnt going to be enough for 6 plants, or even 3 maybe..But
Its what I have right now for the seedlings.. Just added 3 more pots
to make it 6. A couple still need to sprout since they germinated a little
later....
24" long GE ecolux plant/aquarium light. Fluorescent
750 lumens and just 20 fluorescent watts.
(Edit:) Im using Miracle Grow ORGANIC soil, and easy water containers. (\edit)
Pics of it:

Now I dont have the money to go out and spend alot on a big lighting
system, Its also in my apartment on the top floor. Id like to keep
a tube light setup if possible, Maybe another 24" holder and plant light?

For now Since they are just sprouting I have some tin foil under and a little above the light, to try and maximize the use of the light I have right now, But I need to know what I should be looking for in the 24" range
as far as bulbs go, And will another light, Over the other 3 be enough?

I want to stick with Fluorescent due to ventilation and such, I dont have
room to be rigging up any fans and all that stuff. Inside the closet it
stays a nice warm temp like a normal 77 degree day. Only place in the
apartment that does that. Because I keep the AC set low. I like it cold.

Someone lead me in the right direction please! I dont want them
getting all week due to my 1 light in the middle with some tin foil up haha.
Thanks guys for the help

Don't cut your leaves, ever, unless you are topping or fimming but you have a long way to go before you can do that. Thats a fine lighting schedule. They shouldn't need much more for now. The best thing you can do is leave them alone and let them do their thing.

Very Nice :bong2:

I turned the lights back on tonight at 12 and I can already tell a difference in the stalks and in the leaves. ALOT better than the
tube light. And I think the pinching helped the stalks a little bit.
They do seem like they are getting a tad bit thicker. I also have a regular sized fan in there circulating the air around. Just enough to barely move
the hanging lights. Slight movement.

:smoke1:
Adjusted some of the lights, Made them around 1.25" from the plant.:fly:
I'll just keep em on the schedule for the lights. And keep the lights
raised accordingly. Still not sure exactly where I should have the lights
but for now its about 1.25 inches. I will update soon :guitar: :watchplant:

Okay well a little update.
2 of my plants seem to be doing great.
2 of them seem to be struggling.
1 is just popping
1 has been eliminated.

No biggie. I have more seeds germinating...
And as long as I have a couple that do alright
then Im cool with starting fresh ones...
Being its for my own personal purposes anyway.

I did do the "pinch" on them. That may have something
to do with the couple plants that are struggling.

Im justhappy at least a couple of em are doing
good though it seems.. I know they are from
some great tasting herb. Not sure what I should
do about the smaller ones yet though, Wait it out
or go ahead and pull em, And start a fresh plant.

Around 15 days into growing.
Use pics above as Change Reference for teh plants....
I tried to get them in the same order

The 2 good plants are doing alright I suppose.
The others shriveled up, I guess do to lack of water.

They will be new sprouts soon, I scrapped them.
Lights on at 12 at night, Lights off at 6pm every day.

Couple questions:
1. THey are a little dry feeling 1.5" down, Whats the best
way to water them?
2. How do the 2 good plants look?
3. Whats the next thing to watch for?
4. What was the deal with the really weak sprouts? bad seeds maybe.

Thanks for all the help!!!
edit: pics 2&3 match 4&5. Just diff. angle.

Hey

How close are your lights Iron Lotus?
Tap water you can use just make sure the ph isn't over 7.
You need to water them so they will grow. I grow out side so I can not estimate how much water to use your going to have to learn to listen to the sprouts & what water they need.

They are about 1.5" away from the tops.
I think I let the others dry out for fear of over watering:holysheep:

edit: For everyone: :watchplant: :bong2:
