I have had 4 cc seeds liying around in my fridge for about 2 years now so decided to pop them out. 4 popped but the cat loves baby plants and ate them up but 2 survived the mauling. eventually this will become a DWC grow using a mother plant and a 5x5 tent, but this first phase will be the original plants in super soil. I plan on taking clones from both at about 4 or 5 weeks and once those root the originals will go into the flowering tent to proof them out and the clones will become the mothers. I think this saves time.

I have no nute line picked out yet for the DWC but I have everything I need for the system, it just needs assembled and that's about 3-4 months away.

I have grown cc before but it was the auto variety and tho it didn't yield the best it was very popular so gonna give this photo period a try. I also will be using the gas lantern approach to lighting using t-5 for veg 12-1 and MH during flowering starting at 12 hours of light going down to 10 hours at the end of the cycle. I know there is a lot of controversy over this gas lantern style of lighting and I cant get fact from fiction separated so I have decided to try it for myself. I am on the hunt for a 2nd 5x5 tent mostly cause I want 2 flowering tents, but also I want to be able to start running side by side comparisons on various things. like the lighting for example.

I live in a big city and the water sucks here. but I work in the sticks and most ppl there get there water from water stations at like 1 dollar for a 5 gallon water cooler full so I am gonna get that water tested for ppm and decide which to use.

lighting wise I have 3 t-5 6 and 8 bulb fixture, 1 600 with a sunleaves air cooled hood and a cobra 1000 air cooled hood. HPS and MH for both but I no longer veg with the HPS. not sure which of the 2 hoods I will be using but likely the 1k cause its so huge and I think would work best. subject to change tho. I have had issues with burning the plants using the 1k and may opt for the 600 the fisrt few grows to get my inventory back up then try the 1k again.

THERE WILL BE PORN SO NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 21.

any and all advice will be considered but if you have like 10 posts..........

What is "gas lantern style of lighting"?

You might want to check out Clarke's dissertation on cannabis. His studies showed that giving flowering plants 10 hours of light rather than 12 resulted in up to 50% less bud.

Just curious why you would veg with a HPS since you do have MH bulbs?

You will need at least 1000W for a 5 x 5 tent. If you have 2 tents what lighting will you use for the other one? A 600W will not be nearly enough light for a 5 x 5 tent. I will probably throw a 400W in there with my 1000W when I fire up the 5 x 5 tent.

I love growing DWC. I have just switched nute lines, so cannot advise you. I did switch over to AN's Jungle Juice as it seems to have the same formula as the GH Flora series does. I was a General Hydroponics fan for decades, but them selling out to Scott's has made me switch lines. Monsanto is poisoning the earth and killing people and they do not care. I REFUSE to support them and anyone who cares about leaving an earth that we can live on for their children and grandchildren should also boycott all MG, Scott's, and Monsanto products (end of tirade against Monsanto). Have you grown DWC before?

gas lantern is just a style of lighting im gonna try out.

I wont believe 50% loss unless I prove it to myself. no disrespect that's just how I am anymore. so much mis information that its hard to tell fact from assumed fact.

I used MH for veg but no longer use it. I just have the bulbs about.

get me a link to that dissertation and I will give it a look. my intent is to start at 12/12 and work down near the end of the cycle during flush but that isn't set in stone.

cocoa is as close to hydro as I have gotten, which is why the grow log. Im sure there will be issues along the way I don't forsee. I have read a lot of your stuff and look forward for any advice/help you may offer. I would prefer the 1k but it seems difficult to get the height just right. at the suggested heights I get wicked stretch and when I lower it I get wicked burn or bleaching. yes the hoods are cooled and several fans are ossilating.

2 of the girls survived and look great, and a third is tring real hard to get there, with only2 tiny leaves that have popped out. she is still under a humidity dome waiting for new growth. hope she makes it.

I have used the Botana line in cocoa but I don't think its going to work well in the buckets. it separates in only a few days if I premix it even with tons of bubbles so its pretty much out.

I am in...oh and I think it was something like 50% less THC not actual bud. Not sure, it's been awhile since I read Clarke.

got the girls into 2 gallon pots with happy frog today. hopefully take some clones in about 2 weeks or so. going to fim them later tonight, I let them get kinda dry to make the transplant easier and want them to liven up with a good drink of water

been almost 2 weeks in the happy frog and the girls are not very happy right now. a few leaves are clawed over indicating to much N and a few others are just missing chunks of leaf material, like something is eating them. I have no pests that I can find. what do I do since its in happy frog? can I still flush? or is happy frog just to hot? should I go with another soil? I had planned on putting them into there 5 gallon pots in a week or 2 but I can do it now if need be and get rid of the happy frog. think they will recover or get use to this soil? they are still just in veg.

other then this issue they are looking great. should have a camara in about 2 weeks and will start adding pics. I don't trust using my phone cause its a work phone and I don't seem to be able to completely get rid of pics

Yeah bro, I wouldn't want to use no work phone either.
As for the soil, I'm relatively new at this but I haven't heard of any issues with happy frog being too hot.
Your plants may be light feeders. Are you growing under led lights?

right now they are under the t5 HO's. how would light feeders cause any issues?

If you had a strain that didn't want or need a lot of nutes, then I guess it would be possible to burn them in happy frog.

I have never burned anything in HF, but I guess it is possible like YD said, maybe your strain doesn't like nutes. The HF only has nutes that last about 3 weeks. So your problem if it is too much should settle itself soon. Best wishes hippie.

well rosebud, your an accomplished grower. what would you venture to say the issue is? the HF from my understanding was great for smaller plants and cuttings so now I am already 2nd guessing my plans. I am starting to think that maybe I should just rinse all the soil off and put into cocoa since that's what I know best and no soil last forever anyway. I am only guessing at the N issue from the plant issues sticky here. I am off tomorrow so I need to decide what action to take, meaning eather ride it out or do some type of move. I am charging an old smartphone I have and will try to get some pics tomorrow in the A.M.. that may help.

Just my two cents, both times I've decided to ride it out, it was definitely the wrong decision.
Every situation is different though.

Yarddog, unfortunately riding things out usually doesn't work. If your plants are unhappy there is a reason. And they generally won't be "happy" until the situation is changed.

Hippy, so you decided to not go with DWC?

True THG. I learned that one the hard way. Reminded every day of that too. Next time, I won't consider the easy way out. Lol

Im going with the DWC, but first I need to get these mothers going right so I can get some clones. I can probably get a few right now but I would rather wait a few weeks to get bigger stalks on them. I did transplant them into 5 gallon pots lined with cocoa. I didn't like the idea of rinsing off all the dirt and placing in cocoa or other dirt, and since its almost 3 week anyways.....

currently I am cleaning out the tent ( sterilizing ) re hanging my 1k light and filters and whatnot to get ready to go and test everything out. I should be ready to go this weekend sometime. I will be sticking with my Botana line of nutes.

after talking to a grow bud, it has come to be that I had a PH issue cause I misunderstood him and didn't PH. we were talking about super soil and I thought he said you didn't need to PH water in super soil, which he did say, but he didn't mean the stuff in bags. he ment the home made stuff. lol. live and learn.

on another note... I was breaking down a bud from a previous grow and I found about 4 seeds that look great. will they grow since no male was present? or will they be duds like the egg my bird lays every month? never ever found seeds in ANY of my stash before.
