How far away should a 400w HPS light be from my plants? I have a 6 plant hydro set up in a 2x5x8 closet.

Put your light about 12 inches away. Then take the back of your hand and put it on top of your plants. If the back of your hand is hot raise the light another 12 inches and repeat until it's not hot on your hand. Most people keep the light between 12 and 24 inches away from their plants.
