how soon can seedlings go under HID?

they have first set of true leaves. workin on 2nd. will b under a 400 watt hps.

we move them under HID at about 1-2 weeks old. just keep them far from the heat of the bulb until they have a couple/few days to adjust...

You can sprout them and grow them under a 400 right away. The problem is like everyone said- you need to keep them about 24" from the bulb. Then the problem is, they stretch. Though you can fix that when you replant.

If you have T5's, best to leave them under those.
