light hanging?

my sprouts are in soil now..how far should i hang the light from the pot for the first couple of days

600 watt hps

Our 400watt HPS doesnt go near our plants until they are about 3 inches out the grow medium. And then its about 6 inches from the top of the plant

Between 12 and 24 inches depending on how hot it is in your grow area. Try 12 inches first. Put the back of your hand on the top of your plants and if it's warm on your hand it's warm on the plants. I myself would go 24 inches just because they are young.

I would play it safe at first and hang the light about 2 feet away. If your plants then are stretching for light, move the light closer.

Sorry, yeah what i meant when i said "nowhere near our plants" was about 2 feet away lol
