Growing photoperiod plants -- two 2 feet width by 4 feet length by 7 feet height grow boxes - one for veg one for bloom. Say 4 medium plants / box.

Which one would you choose - why?

1) 4 feet 8 bulb T5 for veg and 400 watt HPS for bloom

2) 400 watt MH for veg (not seedlings) and 600 watt HPS for bloom

3) 4 feet 8 bulb T5 for veg and 600 watt HPS for bloom

4) 400 watt MH for veg and 1000 watt HPS for bloom

I chose number 3......

I love vegging under HO T5's....no heat issues, nice tight growth.
Flower wise I run a 600w HPS in a cool tube and a 400w HPS in a standard reflector.

as did I, a 400 would suffice for the area, but the 600 is more efficient and more lumens is always more better.. :)

More, bigger?????? A 4' 8 bulb T5 will emit 40,000 lumens or 5000 lumens per sq ft. A 600W is going to be emitting over 10,000 lumens per sq ft. I see no reason to go bigger than that for your space. Just my $0.02

Roddy, what would you put in that space for light?

I use a bit more then 10,000 lux/sq ft, something between 10 and 15k.

5x6x8' 2600 watts of HPS at full bloom.

Bench racing doesnt work for cars; it sure doesnt work for grows. ;)

I also like running "enhanced lumens", but don't you think that a 600W (80-95,000 lumens) in 8 sq ft is enough? I can't imagine trying to keep a 1000W cool in that amount of space...

For me it goes:

5000 lumens/sqr ft is the bare min I wld run.
7500 lumens/sqr ft is where I shoot for.
10,000 lumens a sqr foot is my limit.

Just personal preferences. Jmo
