Looking for ideas on building a DIY Smoke eating Air filter system for bedroom at night

Pushed WITH purpose!
You can increase effectiveness with a sloff tube. Paper towel roll, 3-4 sections of rolled up paper towels in or dryer to sheets. One or two I spray with ozium. Not be too tight, so you can blow air through. Cover out end with paper towel material, secure with my rubber band.
Blow smoke through this ( I use one to cut it down or one of my cats seems to get to coughing) If you blew it into your planned device, it should kill all smell. I wondered about such a setup, hopefully the filter won't quickly plug from resin forming, then everything sticking to it and clogging it up? I'm wanting to try it.
I have done exactly that in hotel rooms where it would help kill the smell.
Roster just sleep outside and you won't have to worry about it.

An empty toilet paper roller and a few dryer sheets... hahaha. Dorm room knowledge at it's best.
I ended up building this
I encased the filter inside a box to get better vaccum to clear smoke
Works Very well to filter smoke and smell. Would need to design the box around the filter , maybe sheet metal instead of the cardboard box one.
Still Looks Like Nomad from Star Trek, Maybe call it NoSmoke

Set ash tray down in front sucks that in and when exhaling slowly blow right into the box opening to filter Done..................
Maybe I can save the smoke and reuse it or send it to Walt

I ran into this exact same problem a couple years ago. Even same thing with my dog.
After a little research I learned that smoke can not be effectively filtered because it's not just particulates but also gasses and the gasses are too small for a media filter.
So, with smoke, you have to neutralize it or get rid of it.
Lots of good suggestions for the inline fan that goes outside. They suck a lotta air and can effectively clear a room of smoke..
I ended up doing what was posted above. An activated carbon filter attached to one of my old 6" inline fans. Works amazingly well. I didn't use a box or anything. Just Nomad with his spinning hat. LOL I actually think it looks kind of cool. LOL
