LST and Topping for Sativa indoors

If I want to grow Sativa indoors at what height should I begin topping and for how long? I'm thinking I will top when the plant has about 5 nodes and then tie the branches down to the sides of the pot. After 2-3 tops and some ties I should have a nice star shape right? But I've never done it before, so is this the correct technique? Thanks

As soon as they are long enough to bend down without hurting them. I think you have it about right.
