State Attorney General Bill Schuette has gone to court to close down three mid-Michigan marijuana dispensaries. Schuette’s lawsuits say the dispensaries are public nuisances that are operating outside Michigan’s medical marijuana act.
The dispensaries are all in Lansing and Jackson. Schuette says employees of the dispensaries illegally took money for medical marijuana card applications, and sold marijuana to undercover officers. That’s even though a Court of Appeals decision earlier this year says it is illegal to buy or sell the drug. That decision is being appealed to the state Supreme Court.
Marijuana also remains illegal under federal law, although federal prosecutors have been instructed not to pursue medical marijuana convictions.
Schuette says, right now, pretty much the only way for medical marijuana card holders to legally possess the drug is to grow it themselves, and that he supports law enforcement efforts to shut down dispensaries that are distributing marijuana.

Yep, the good ol' At Gen has been hardcore on dispensaries, points to you all often for his reasons. Then you get these goofballs who blatantly break the laws and the whole thing loses credibility.

Again, scary, very scary.

Sounds like you all can't follow your own rules.

Just following your lead...you guys guide well. Now, think about why exactly there was no language about dispensaries in our law.....I'm very willing to bet we didn't just forget that part.

sux how 1 or 2 bad apples can really twist public opinion

Yes, it does Orange!! In all seriousness, this stuff hurts us all, wish we had never slipped down the slope...too late now!

Sure, Puff, I can do this. I know many who wouldn't have a clue how, don't have the room or just can't take on such a task, though! Those people deserve the medication they voted into law to use, but will have no way to get it!

There must have been language in the mmma laws otherwise is would not be illegal.

“The courts have made it clear that marijuana sales and so-called dispensaries are illegal under state law,” Schuette said. “The law enforcement community simply cannot look the other way when the law is being broken and putting public safety at risk.”

I already know how these threads will go, so please count me out! So glad I'm going on vacation....

Have fun!!

Imagine if we were required to synthesize our own pharmaceuticals. Or grow all of your own fruit and vegetables. That is out of the question.

It should seem obvious that deathly ill, or people with epilepsy or any other serious health condition / disability (arthritis) would be incapable of FARMING their meds.

HEY Granny! Throw that 50 lb bag of soil on you shoulder, grab the gallon of nutrients and get to work!

It amazes me that these "Educated officials" don't understand how much work this is. Must be nice to just pop your oxy-contin and dictate what these "druggies" must do.

ag shuette is a renegade. oversteps job duties daily=personal vendetta.

i grow for myself. i make donations to those i see as charitable causes...if i accept a donation for new sports equipment for the team in return at a later date, it is not sales and distributing...

if they would all change thier operations worded as donations, i think we can all live in peace...if shuettes army steals from a charitable organization, he himself is an outlaw!;)

harvest time at xmas always gets me in the spirit of giving...:D

I'm sure there are people working on a solution, even if Bill doesn't want to work on one. It certainly won't be easy, too much has happened and I fear perception in our favor is weakening. Hoping we can get some good to come, but....

I think what you suggested about donations has been tried (in some form or another...and not just here, if I'm remembering correctly), some "clubs" here have been taking memberships and giving out monthly allotments....my so called criminal friends, for example. I believe this is why they've yet to be ordered shut down (not arrested and taken off to prison as criminals, mind you, they've not been charged with any crimes because the laws aren't being enforced because there's too much ambiguity...the reason this whole thing is going to higher courts...some overlook this FACT either purposely or ignorantly)

Collectives are likely out, Bill's seen that game.
