Bill introduced in lame-duck session to ban growing marijuana at home

By Newschannel 3 Thursday, November 29th 2018

LANSING, Mich. — A West Michigan lawmaker introduced a bill to undo part of the recreational marijuana law passed by voters on Nov. 6.

The legislation introduced in the lame-duck session by Michigan Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive, would ban growing pot at home.

The marijuana legislation, as it stands, will allow anyone over 21-years-old or old to grow up to 12 plants in their home for personal use.

Meekhof's bill is unlikely to pass in the lame-duck session, because it needs a three-quarters vote in both the Michigan House and Senate.
