I've found 2 or 3 schools offering online courses teaching you not only how to grow but the business and regulations of the industry. One, thcuniversity.org, offers horticulture taught by Jorge Cerventes via his book Marijuana Horticulture. The school accepts low monthly payments or semester type payments. IT's affordable even if you're rather broke. The second one, https://cannabistraininguniversity.com/, is taught by Ed Rosenthal. CTU seems to be more like an online trade school in presentation at least. THey advertise 200+ videos and claim to have the most graduates in the industry. Their MAster Horticulture course is $250.They both offer job services upon graduation.
Upon looking around for the 3rd, its actually a brick and mortar school that offers online classes for enrolled students.

What do you all think about this? Is this a valid way to get into the industry as it blossoms? Cannabis and hemp are about to be huge. How many more years until the last few states fall to at least decrim and medical?

They got a university in Houston and for $450 and 6 Saturdays in a row they give U a piece of paper saying U know how to grow hemp -- I'm pretty sure a blind man could figure out my hustle ?-- Texas about to make a big change and I'm probably running about 2 steps ahead of the law -- I'm a pot farmer from the OFC and I need some business partners so we can kick the door in on this MMJ thing that's coming --Yes I am after medical professionals preferable a female group that want into the cannabis industry but don't know **** about weed !--There is no telling what the rules will be and stuff --I'm not jumping thru a bunch of crazy legal hoops -- U do your job and I'll grow the weed !-- I want into legal weed but it don't have to be ?-- Prohibition Light ?--I could do that !-- Supply a couple dealers and be fine !-- U know I'll be coming at them with that liquid weed ?-- Half strength hash oil in disposable e-cig cartridges !--Safest way to partake in a prohibition state and the math works for me !

THCUniversity is OK...I completed their courses last fall. I found them to be informative, challenging, and for the most part modern and complete. They do use a lot of drop downs menu's that can be hard to find. I suspect they use these to keep you on-board longer since you pay by the month.I have plans to grow for a retirement job,I think once one of these southern tier states"drinks the kool-aide" and legalizes recreational cannabis that they will all jump on board. As Keef mentioned TX & AR seems to be the best chance at the moment. I will continue to prepared and increase my knowledge of organic cannabis production, vote pro legalization candidates, and be prepared to move if necessary. I think the south will hold an edge with our long grow seasons and warm winters .

Morning Hollowpoint !-- I didn't go to weed school but I got one hellova support system of other growers here !- If it can be done with weed someone here knows how it's done !-- There is a growing problem out there with outside farming -- pollination by hemp !-- U gonna have to come inside eventually -- I need an 8 part rotation of 60 day finishers for a weekly harvest -- Figuring dat **** out make U crazy !-- The weed must flow !

I'm relocating and I want to set up a bat cave -- The core to building a commercial grow -- Since it won't be legal yet I'll have to stay hid but when it is there won't be a mad scramble --In the mean time maybe put some stock up ? --perfect my processing techniques - become a better grower -- Lots to do before the end of prohibition --

Morning... I agree on the indoor grows....so many pest problems and soon to be pollen problems as well. I am still working and I just grow for my personal use, but looking to change that soon. I grew up on a farm so I guess I am hitting the return to your roots age bracket lol. The beautiful state of CO is appealing, but dragging my possessions half way across the USA is not. So I am hoping for a southern state to hop on-board soon. You have my exact thoughts...a weekly harvest perpetual grow, drop every how many new seeds per week....pull the same off the harvest end. I practice a form of that now.

I started THCU. I'm sort of impressed. The content is well put together and they give you a free digital copy of Marijuana Horticulture. I've got 3 subjects left in the Horticulture Specialist course. I have Business Certification and CO & WA SAfety and Regulations Certs to earn left. If anything, I've now got my own notebook of grow tips and facts lol.
What I don't like about online schooling is you can have the study material open in another tab. It also seems like the Q&A needs work. Occasionally it seemed like even putting in the right answer(s) was wrong. Also, Jorge must have designed the HOrticulture tests himself. Sometimes questions are vague or misleading I've noticed. As HollowPoint stated, probably to keep you on your toes and slow you down.
All in all a good experience and an entertaining way to test my memory and instinct.

I cannot imagine any competent educator purposely making vague or misleading questions to keep you on your toes and low you down. I would far rather believe that they are just not quite sure what they are doing yet.

Schoolin is a business after all... Some things are just poorly worded, like my description slightly. The next time I take an exam and find an example to explain for me I will take a screen shot. I think you're right, THG. Hello by the way, nice to meet you! But, the issue's pop up enough that you do begin to feel slightly that it's intentional. Again though, the school is accredited, so I hope you're more right than me. I'm a bit paranoid anywho.

I think U should come down here with me in the trenches of Texas where if they catch U with a dirty pipe they put U in jail and learn to grow !-- It is probably a little more intense than a classroom ?-- Me ?-- I'm just a result of the culture of prohibition !-- -- U made me what I am ! -- Deal with it !

In my younger years Keef I'd have been figuring out the greyhound there in a heart beat. My roots are a little deeper now a days.

I do like someone around I can out run and they getting harder to find !-- That time they lose taking down the slow one might be just enough time for me to slide one more time ?-- It's just getting to the point everyone can out run me and I ain't liking what that means !

I don't have to out run the po-po Cuz !-- I just gotta outrun U !-- That ain't so funny to me anymore !

I agree with you on Colorado, It is beautiful. But a move here for growing would be a waste of your time. The laws change so fast on growing you have to be up on a lot of things. When we first came here you could get a mmj card that would allow you to grow up to 99 plants and you can be a caregiver and have your customers sign there plant count over to you. The county's and city's have their own set of regulations that restrict your grow. Basically you can have up to 20 plants in different stages of growth. The prices of pot at the stores now can be found for $60 an ounce. The laws are set up in the favor of the electric company by forcing indoor growing. A big gift to them. I grow better weed than most of the shops here but it is hard to sell unless it is going out of state. What you will find is going to happen as states become legal the laws will be set up to restrict the home grower for big business to take over. I have grown and smoked most of my life, Now I am happy to be a hobbyist grower. Less Stress. Legalization is on the way as the fed's are looking at reclassification of marijuana. Keep growing !!!

I can see that what Snake said is gonna happen in Texas too !-- But it's worse than that -- Big Pharma will buy the best genetics they can find and place a genetic marker in it -- If U didn't buy the seed from them then U stole the genetics and will be prosecuted -- They will sell no seed !-- There are about 15,000 plus listed normal varieties (n2) -- but only a handful of Polyploids-- These are plants like U see in bigass strawberries and seedless watermelons -- Using a chemical U force the DNA in a sprout to double inside the cell -- Makes a plant with double DNA (4n) Tetraploid-- by breeding that to a normal plant (2n) they produce seedless watermelons (3n)-Triploids - U can find triploid or "terminator " weed seed at a few places already -- They headed for a true sensemillia at (5n)--Nothing in nature can fertilize it so no seed !-- Maybe when they get there ?-- I be waiting on them ?--
See :-- Billy Budd seed and clones in Canada he doing it -- He may see this ?-- He crazy ashell and his numbers be wrong but his science is spot on !-- The future of weed lies in Polyploids!-- Billy got a male up there he breeding with -- Sequoia !-- Normal pot got 2 strands of DNA -- Sequoia got 8 !
See-- The story of Dr. David Suzuki and U.B.C Chemo !
That's where I'm going!
