I noticed yet another study about how cannabis doesn't relieve pain and is just a placebo. I do agree with them that it doesn't relieve pain, for me, but will they ever do a study that is to find out if cannabis allows someone to "control" pain which is just as useful if not more than numbing. Because it does wonders for controlling pain.

Just my opinion try not to flame too hard

I agree 100%. I’ve gone through more than my fair share of pain in my life and marijuana does nothing to illuminate it. I found that all it does is takes my mind away from it so it’s not as bad but it’s still there. When people tell me that smoking weed cures cancer I just can’t come up with more ignorant term than stupid for the what they’re saying.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Just be sure it's not going to do that for everyone. In fact I can shoot you a percentage range. 15 to 20 percent of the people that take it stand a good change of it actually curing medical issues.

And before you scoff think about this. Cancer runs in my family and I didn't get it with one of the differences between me and them is eat green bananas

They are suppose to show how they conducted their research. That would be interesting to see what strains were used and what painful conditions people had along with how did they smoke it or ingest it or whatever.

Cancer does not run in my family yet. I suffered through it. I’m sure I’m a lot older than you and I probably smoked more pot in my life than you’ve ever seen but that didn’t stop the cancer from coming into my life and wreaking havoc. I won’t be disrespectful about your percentages but you’re painting with such a broadbrush it’s not applicable. I would love to believe marijuana can cure disease, but there is absolutely no clinical proof that it can.

I'm fairly old but looking at statistics around the world the percentage of people that use is generally between 15 to 20 percent. I know a lot of people that tried it and just didn't care about it. Looking at Colorado when they first legalized percentage was 12.7 and after five years 15.7. Looking at Canada it was 15 percent two years after legalization. And for the old tried and true the guys I knew from the Vietnam was all said you drank or drugged and the split was, at a guess, 80/20

My theory is around 15 to 20 percent of people are genetically disposed and it does something different than with the other 80 percent
As for how they conducted their research not sure it matters that much. Every study I have seen compares cannabis to opioids with the tests being something like Spicoli banging his head with a shoe. Opioids will do that cannabis won't

I guess I am misunderstanding your post. I thought you were talking about cannabis, curing diseases. You’re referencing opioids has zero correlation with curing anything as opiates just mask pain. I have a lot of experience with both marijuana and opiates, and neither one will cure anything that I’ve had nor stop the pain when it’s as intense as it has been. I would like to see some legitimate studies on what marijuana can do to help eliminate disease. I think it might be wishful thinking on your part but then again, I’m not a rocket scientist so I might be wrong. I will go on record as saying that I am an expert when it comes to dealing with intense pain. I was the first person in the nation to do a trial on extremely high milligram opiates that are time released I found they didn’t work on me, as well as a standard opioid did. I was cut so severely the only thing that was holding my top and bottom half together was my spine.

My question would be,,,, why do so many ppl that smoke weed get cancer if weed helps cure cancer. Not saying CBD or THC might not help certain cancers but I just haven't seen it and I'm 67. I will say there is a possibility that a topical might help with skin cancer but I'd have to see more studies on something like that.
Now don't get me wrong. I realize that lifestyle has a lot to do with cancers such as Lung cancer. Smoking cigarettes is a big problem but so was pesticides that's been in our lives for so long. I don't know anyone personally that benefited from weed when it came to cancer,,but that's just me.
As for pain relief I have never had weed help me with pain. I've been shot,,run over twice while riding my Harley and many more things such as open heart surgery. Weed didn't not do shit for my pain. Pain killers helped but that was it.

@boo --

Just this very morning after reading this thread, I discovered a whole raft of studies from the National Institute of Health (NIH) regarding the relationship between cannabis and cancer cure/abatement.

I'll admit I was really surprised. No, more like gobsmacked.

I had no fargin clue that so many serious studies have been made. If only one in ten are counted, it is still a huge pile of work that has been done regarding cannabis and its effect on cancer in general (and in specifics, too).

I, too, did not think there was anything but wild talk. I now think otherwise. Lookit this -- Specific papers written on cures at NIH:

I’ve read enough positive studies to feel confident that cannabis will help fight cancer. That’s just my opinion. May have to donate my body to the cannabis research when I’m done with it to give them something to research.

I am pretty much the definition of a cyborg -- using "Terminator" as a baseline. Lotsa metal all over. Not only that, but my left knee (which had been behind my head) has some parts of me in it donated from other places.

I have willed my body to science.

The scientists are contesting the will.

Sorry tried to reply on the wrong device. If you are unaware of the above studies then you may not know about the mother of all studies which they quickly looked away from and hardly acknowledge exists. Only one patient is left in the program although 2 are still alive the other happened to live in Oregon and doesn't want the low grade crap from Mississippi. His name is Irvin Rosenfeld. The government started the program with 13 people who had conditions that would disable or kill them in just a few years putting the notion that it actually cures things. Well they were right and wrong. It did not cure them but rather allowed all 13 to live much longer than the average person taking prescription medication. Check it out

Note the program started in 1991and was supposed to be a big win in the argument to remove it from schedule 1. What a pie in the face

Maybe orally, but I'm bettin' smoking it doesn't. Anything that goes into your lungs that ain't clean air ain't good for ya.
If'n they'll give my gold teeth to the Old Hen, I'd donate mine, too.

I use opioids and cannabis for pain. Cannabis is great for my migraines. The only problems is how much I have to smoke sometimes for it to be effective. You have to experiment with the different strains also.

I don't think the guy mentioned really ate 300 joints a month for years...

There are inhalents that go right into your lungs and help you. Decongestion, a direct medicine to your bloodstream, a whole bunch.

"...classification system lists four general categories of inhalants — volatile solvents, aerosols, gases, and nitrites..."

I'm 82. Would not have gotten this far, and in such active health** without cannabis. Being with a bag of smoke enables me to not only bear, but ignore pain that otherwise cripple me. <-- The double-plus part? Being active means I stay healthy and fit -- rather than bent over and curled up. Chalk up that status to the cannabis WIN column.

**See crossbow thread
Now go light the fukk up and enjoy.

It will make you live longer and happier and healthier.
