Troopers said they found one of the biggest marijuana and opium growing operations in Lycoming County at a home near Lairdsville.

State police said Wednesday 250 marijuana plants and more than 50 poppy pods used to make opium were found at the home of Tamara Person, 27.

According to court papers, the whole thing went down around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Beaver Lake in Penn Township.

Undercover troopers arranged a drug buy for five pounds of pot and 400 valium pills. The deal had a street value of nearly $8,000.

After troopers told Person they were officers she handed over drug paraphernalia and then admitted that she had intentions of trying to rob them for their money.

Troopers said Person was armed with knives and had two teenagers standing nearby, also armed with knives.

After her arrest Person led them to her home where troopers found nearly 50 poppy pods cut open to harvest opium.

Troopers then got a search warrant and discovered 250 pot plants in a basement growing operation.

Court papers also show, Person was growing pot outdoors as well.

Person is locked up in the Lycoming County jail. She is charged with dealing drugs, robbery and corruption of minors.

Troopers said the teens will be charged as well.
