So, I am new to this hobby. What is the best way to measure the PPM? Can you point me to the best value tester that gives good results?

I use a Hanna combo meter. It cost me $150 more than 10 yrs ago, still works great every day.

TDS...Total Diluted Solids. used to measure Parts Per Million

i use a hanna for TDS/Temp

i have a Sharp for PH

i have gone through a couple PH meters.

my suggestion. spend the extra bucks on a decent digital meter that does both. Spending more now will SAVE you money in the long run.

peace

Thanks, all!

Now, the follow up question. Where is the best place to get said combo meter? :)

I supported my local hydro store on those items ;) never get my lights from him tho:holysheep:

maybe give ebay a look see:hubba:

I'm not a big fan of combination PPM/PH pens because of the calibration and regular maintenance involved.
I rarely check PH, but when I do, I still use drops.

want the cheapest tester available?... use Litmus paper, like I do.
