one of my plants has a branch that is producing what seems to be male pollen sacks instead of pistils. it is only this branch, the rest of the plant is flowering very well with pistils. can i do something about this? like remove the branch or cut the pollen sacks off?

remove the entire branch...and ASAP. Then watch it closely for any further stamina development. Outdoors it is nearlly impossible to pluck individual male flowes with any degree of success.
Any further male production, I would eliminate the entire plant, post haste. You don't want your entire crop seeded with hermie pollen.

That could be due to certain PH balances in the soil. The plant grows a male branch to pollenate the rest of the plant so it can reproduce. The branch can sometimes turn the whole plant male if left too long. Like the other guy said remove the branch and watch that plant closely.
