With most LST branches that have been tied down, it's for the remainder of the grow. If the plant can partly or fully recover into it's original position, it usually will. I've never kept track of doing so, but it seems that more did go back then those who stayed in the new position.

If you've countered it's tendency to revert by using HST and multiplying the total weight of each branch, then you might get one that stays put.
