St. Lucie County deputy arrested on felony drug charges, placed on unpaid leave

FORT PIERCE — A St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office deputy and three others were arrested Friday night after investigators searched an apartment and turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff's Office and arrest affidavits released Saturday.

Deputy Heather Tucker, 27, and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Kristopher Goodner, each were arrested on felony charges of possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana and marijuana possession with intent to sell and a single misdemeanor charge of possession of drug equipment, according to a release.

Also arrested were Jeffrey Barden, 28, and 27-year-old Ayla Clanton, of the 2100 block of South 31st Street in Fort Pierce. Barden and Clanton each were arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.

According to a release, the Sheriff's Office got a tip about 30 days ago indicating Tucker, a six-year veteran, was involved in possible drug activity.

Investigators on Friday executed a search warrant at the apartment in Fort Pierce where Tucker had been staying with Goodner and roommate Barden. Goodner had a pipe with marijuana in one hand, and a lighter in the other, reports stated.

Marijuana was found in several places, with about 2.9 ounces being found in bags in a bedroom. Also in that bedroom were the personal belongings of Tucker and Goodner.

The Sheriff's Office declined to release Tucker's booking photo.

Tucker was placed on unpaid administrative leave. Her Sheriff's Office badge, identification, weapons, vehicle and uniforms were taken.

Tucker and Goodner were released from the St. Lucie County jail, each on $15,750 bail.

Clanton and Barden also were released, each on $1,500 bail.

The investigation is continuing.

Marijuana possession results in unpaid leave. Shooting an innocent result in paid leave....how screwed up is that?
