soil layers??

so ive heard diff stuff about layering soil. or just mix it right up? what does everyone do and is it better?

I use MG seed starter mix with added perlite....I mix that up but also put a lil layer of perlite at the bottom of my pots. Will be adding lime to the mix this year too.

I mix..not layer...When I did some coco buckets I learned from massproducer he Layered the containers to resemble the earth...

ok, so hamster why do you put perlite @ bottom? what does it do for the plant?
& 4u did your buddy say why he layerd? what are advantages/ disadvantage?

I put pea gravel in the bottom of my pots......... helps them drain better........ also helps when you water your pots from the bottom......... don't layer my soil........ Hampster, I've got some of the MG starter...... going to use it in my next grow, which is about 4 weeks from starting.

I did a grow in glass and layered the soil. from the bottom perlite - supersoil - ffof - coco. I did not see a difference once the plant reached all layers and it reached all layers quite quickly.
