when do I start to put a light on the plants after they sprout or right once I plant the germinated seeds

I put the light on as soon as the plant shows leaves, this way it wont strech much.

ok this is a newby question but how long do the roots have to be before planting

I put the plant under light immedeatly upon planting with a 24 on light cycle. With the light close to the soil it warms it up and helps germination imo.

I'd keep a close eye on the amount of heat though.

All done within reason, my 250w MH was about a foot away with great results.
