So I made a run to the local hydroponics store today and got the things I needed for my first DWC bucket. However, I forgot rockwool cubes for seedlings/clones. Is there any reason I can't start them in perlite instead like I do for my soil grows? I have tons of that. Would hate to make another trip unless it's necessary. I'm just not sure if the roots would be too delicate to transfer into clay pebbles without a little rockwool sanctuary.

I assume starting them directly in the pebbles would not work, heh.

if you start them in perlite for soil I dont see why you cant for Hydro...be extra careful on the transfer

Nope, I moved an older seedling from soil but then the stress caused her to hermy within a week of flipping. I'm going to stick to soil until my current grow gets closer to harvest, then restart the DWC bucket.

Other people say it works fine. This particular plant was a stunted mutant so it had lots of problems.
