Hey there! I totally get your frustration with losing not one, but two accountants. That's rough! It's crazy how people just up and retire like that. IMO, doing your own taxes on Turbo Tax is a great idea. It's super easy to navigate and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.

If he is he isn't very good at it because this is his only post so far.
I used Turbo Tax when i was a young man. Ive had my own Tax man for over 20 yrs now. He worked for the IRS for 15yrs before he started his own business. He hates the IRS and knows all the ins and outs, including things that throw up red flags.

We just got informed our accountant is going to ask for an extension, she has had all our stuff since mid Feb.

My employer is going to be late with our K-1s again. Something about a new tax law and how R&D money is counted, a very stealthy corporate tax hike.

It means I have to guess how much the disbursement will be to avoid steep fines. It also means I have to make sure I overpay my taxes until I can actually file, and because of the new law the amount they say I owe will increase unpredictably. I only know the increase will be significant. So I will very likely be fined for not paying taxes I have no means of calculating.

My previous tax preparer had also worked for the IRS and I trusted him more than any other I have ever used. I trusted that he knew the ins and outs of allowable deductions and necessary documentation. Unfortunately, he retired a few years ago and I have not found another one that I would trust to do mine. I have used the TurboTax or similar since he retired. My tax obligations have changed as of last year and need to find another preparer I can trust again. If your guy is taking on new clients I would like to reach out to him and see if he would fit the needs of my small business.

Plus, if your taxes are less complicated now, it should be a breeze. Just make sure you have your pay stub and necessary forms handy. By the way, I'm new on this forum, so it's nice to meet you!
