Universal Ballast???

I just picked up a light. I was told very little about it except it's a 400 watt hps. But now that I got it and I'm looking it over I see two different labels that say different things. The one on the ballast appears to say it's compatible with hps, mh, and hg lights up to 1000 watts. Then the one on the actual light socket neck says up to 400 watt hps. Anyone know anything about this? It's a Cooper light if that helps at all. Here's a couple pictures:

Anybody got any advice? Would this be suitable for a 400 watt MH for vegging or no?

ya it shouldnt be a problem. the socket dosent matter unless the size is different!
