Well, after seeing how KB's thread about Kiss and Beatles turned out with everyone just chatting about certain bands or lyrics it gave me an idea.

I have started some threads in the past that hit over 1000 posts. This is one that could go that way and be very cool. I hope....

So here it is:

Everyone post a lyric or song that meant a lot to them, and tell us a little story why it meant so much to you.

Rules (like ussual)
1. You cannot pick at or make fun of someones post period.
2. Keep it clean
3. List the band and song so that others that may not know of the group can check it out.
4. your own lyrics are more than welcome (creativity is always a plus) [if your own personal lyrics have a cuss word please leave it as an asteric or just type "omit" in the word. I know its hard to right lyrics without a word or two. but please keep this down and don't abuse the "little" bit of slack I'll give on this.
5. No "cool song" replies. Keep it on topic.
6. You can post as many stories or things as you want as long as it relates to the music that inspired it.
7. NO AURGUMENTS on which style or group is better or worse....keep opinions to yourself.

Thats it. Hopefully a few will find this fun and give us some rainy day reading material.

Pink Floyd "shine on you crazy diamond" said:
Remember when you were young,
You shone like the sun.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes,
Like black holes in the sky.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire
Of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon,
You cried for the moon.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night,
And exposed in the light.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome
With random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

My memory...Red.....

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Bob Dylan Times they are a changin....

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

This song is sooo powerful to me... when you put it in the context of what was going on in the world when he released this song.. it makes everything come into perspective....
