Some people do and some don't, but the science says it helps. Some people use Black strap molasses and others use bud sweeteners. I personally use Humbolts Secret Sweet Sticky. If you have a refractometer you can calculate the brix of your bud. You can buy one for 25 bucks up to several hundred. You then need to squeeze some sap from a leaf. Just a few drops and look into the meters peep hole. Your target is anything above 12% . Defoiliation also helps sugar production. If your brix is under 12 that means you have problems. Either light water nutrients temp etc. I know there's easier ways to see how healthy your plants are but it also helps with taste, trichomes etc. If you use a sweeteners what is it and how much per gallon do you use?
