She is only 30 years old and she is deteriorating before our eyes. She is already needing a cane to walk, her speech has begun to slur & her eye has begun to droop. She seems to be in constant pain. It is killing me to see her in so much pain, but my fam is EXTREMELY anti pot.

I am here in order to gain expertise & advice on my baking & tincture skills. It is my hope that when I am up to par, I will be able to approach her with the possiblility of alleviating some of her pain without smoking being a necessity.

I am not interested in getting her high. I just want to help her to not
hurt so much. She would never approach her doc (or any other doc) about this, but I think she might listen to me.

So far I have been lucky enough to have a couple of very kind friends that have gifted me trim & shake. My first batch of cannabutter didn't turn out potent at all. I think it was from the lack of THC on the trim, but I am not really sure.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.:)

I feel for you Baked....

My Mother was diagnosed with MS a LONG time ago.... Ended up being a probable Misdiagnosis, However she had the symptoms, and well knowing how MS works, it can attack anywhere in the body at any time....We lost her to a small celled cancer almost a year ago after being diagnosed just 2 weeks before.

I had been in the same boat as you are now, but I never pushed forward with it, and when we found out later what was more serious, it was too late.

BEFORE you medicate.... Make sure you get at least her permission.... I would not care what the rest of the family thinks about MMJ... but I would NOT slip it to her without approval from her... That could be the worst thing you could do for her honestly. Maybe approach her with, I think this might help...

Leaf and shake will get ya some, but, you will need some of the quality parts of the plant to get the effect you are looking for... You dont want to get her high, but that is gonna be a side effect for what you are looking for.... I am not saying it will be displeasing for her... but there are types and strains that are a LOT more for pain treatment than for getting high..... When looking for a strain to grow, look for an Indica.... They are more noted for pain releif and Medical..... Sativas give a more uplifting "high" Usually.... that is not set in stone though....

Good luck to you and yer sis..... IF ya need more help just holler... More than enough peeps here willing to help.

The effect of cannabis on MS is one of the most studied aspects of medical marijuana. Here are only a FEW of the MS studies available in the link in my sig!

If those studies don't do the trick, I don't know what will! The first one alone SHOULD be enough!

The one about the "cuppa" is very interesting. She will not get high from tea- THC does not dissolve in water. Other chemicals in cannabis are responsible for any relief they get, not THC. I'd try that first (you could even salvage the soaked bud :holysheep: - the THC would still be there- sort of an instant water-cure, you'd end up with ugly, but smooth-toking, potent bud).

For edibles and making extracts, try here-

I wish you and your sister, the very best!
