do you think a 6 inch in-line duct fan will be enough to cool a 600w bulb?

when I turn the HPS on it probably gets to around 100 degrees. When I put the thermometer directly under the light, next to the plants, it goes up to 125. That's not very fun. The room is *sealed* but it's up against the roof. Until I build this cool tube I'm running CFLs.

My 600 HPS runs too hot in my grow room so I'm keeping it on hold. However, I'm trying to construct a cool tube by the end of the week. I'm also thinking of shifting the light schedule so it runs at night. Something like 7 or 8 pm to 7 or 8 am. Anyone have experience with this? How much will...

Does anyone know where I could get a hollow glass tube to use for my potential cool tube? I've currently got a 600w HPS on hold until I can come up with something to manage the heat.

what time would you recommend turning the lights on? the currently turn on at 2pm, doing 16/8. I could do 12/12 from 8 to 8.

it's working so far! lower temps with the weather have helped too. gotta love improv.

alright. the holes aren't that small, though. maybe like an inch in diameter, and there are many of them.

here it is. excuse my crude ms paint skills. i guess in theory, i'd like for cold air to be pumped in, and the hot air and machinery exhaust to get pumped out. but i don't think window units are designed to exhaust like that....we'll see....
