? about hps upgrade

I was thinking about upgrading my 600w hps to 1000w. If I simply change the ballast will the light bulb sockets need replaced too? The hoods of my 600 and 1000 that I'm currently running are exactly the same. The only difference I can see are the ballast. I would like to go all 1000. Just wondering if I can only switch ballast.

No the sockets should be fine, both should be mogul. Just be sure the ballasts ends are the same other wise you will need an adapter.
