Hey folks, I quit sayin " Hi GUYS ", because I wanted to take note of our female growers who contribute so much to this site. So from now on I start things with FOLKS, that kinda covers everyone, Anyhow......

Has anyone ever heard of boiling the root of the plant to in crease potential THC content ? I am drying my male exposed plants,:cry::cry:, before they go south, ( Have had 2 spit seeds in quanity already ), but just heard about the boiling roots from an old guy in wheel chair at the park. Thought I would ask.
Thanks.:confused2:
Remember " Some Dragons Live Forever. "

Now as a Shaman the roots do have allot of use if you pull up the entire plant water wash the roots then hang them till dry in a dark place ...Over the centuries from china to Shamanism the roots too are used as a curative and the ground powder can have a bit of tincture added to form a poultice for deep aches like arthritis and broken bones like hips and so on some migraine suffers swear by a root poultice on the forehead too ....there are even a few recipes for root tea...as far as boiling the roots I've heard of it but as Hick said it is a myth ....Now in outdoor natural harvest ...stones are warmed in the sun and the plant is kept watered very well and a hole dug in on an angle under the plant and the stones warmed by the sun are placed under the roots daily for 2 weeks before harvest in some tribes, but again this is outdoor harvest large plants with huge root systems...This was traditionaly done with Vision Quest Plants Only not medicinal ones...

Reason being is it does effect the plant deeply just my view as a Shaman... and one does not want to smoke that canna unless one is fully prepared for the spiritual journey that will follow this is also done with prayers over the plant...

See you are joining the elements Great Grand Father and the fire of the sun , Mother earth and the earth,Water of course and also wind so it brings in the sacred 4 and the sacred 2 ...

As I said however I would not recommend this for a novice grower ...This is simply historical information from my cultural background....And I really don't think you'll will like the journey without someone there to help interpret the visions, and help you land grounded and safe and properly among human kind.

As I said this is for historical info Please do not try it at home...a if you are unwise enough to try it without the proper things in place don't say you were not warned !!!

so then takin dryin the roots after washed and gring them up and make a tea out them?
does any these root concoctions have any true stimulating effects on the human body or mind as smokin teh buds does .

Not ones you might like or expect Zipper to be honest...The tea is great for balancing the human hormone system though and very relaxing if you sip just one cup ...but like I said they have to thoroughly washed then dried....It is a great stress reliever to me ...but you won't like the taste...Laughs as there are so many teas that just a few sips will take you to the gates of the ancestors and they are not made with canna...but good try Zipper and no I will not give those recipes do a little historical research K

Mystic Wolf...
Thank you brother, I have many root and moss medicinal cures I use, the coast has many wonderous varieties that were not made known to me on the plains where I grew up. My son lives up in Browning, Mt. still on the Res. works in a casino there. It has been many years since I went on a vision quest, I did a sweat last winter to aid in my fight against prostate cancer.
It worked better then the radiation did, 18 months of rad treatments, then one sweat and 3 months later and I'm 100% in remission.
I have no-one out here to aid in such a journey, so I wait, and do the things I can, ( which, sorry, need no public posting. ), but I thank you for the reply it was very much appreciated.
I kind of figured it was a myth but it never hurts to ask, I lost 12 of my ladies, 9wks into bud, to an outdoor plant that was brought into my grow room and it turned male 3days later, 4 days later my girls began developing seed pods. I just finished 2 days of manicure and rinsing, once harvested I will put the root and some stem to work.
I weave my own hemp twine that I use to tie up my girls if they get too heavy to hold their own weight.
Take care all.
Buds the size of my fist, sad deal.

@gary18...
Ah I've been up to Browning visited a bit Hardin too though it is tad bit rough and I had to put a young buck in his place...Julie also has her people across the border in Washington...I love visiting there as well...It is just to me very nice seeing other native faces here even though sadly some if the tribes have bad reps ...They generally ask Me what nation I tell them Cherokee and they tend to be okay with Me ...Though it probably helps that I stay sheared too Chuckles.

Though your very right about mixing Our ways and their ways it works and people would be amazed at one of OUR good sweats and walks would do...I can't wait till the place on the east coast sells then once we get a place here a lodge and a cold frame are going up outside.

Congrats on the remission keep it that way please ...Thinks about jobs as I was a Foundry man for 20 plus years before the MS other Natives walk the high steel ....People often question our choice of job or career they don't understand walking with the eagles or sweating daily with the ancestors ....The soft ties there in the brushing wind or the kiss of the heat in a weekend sweat....

Thinks about a few on MP that might drop by to visit such a sweat lodge...

Soft Smile

Indeed, I have found many ways of incorperating my Native traditions with life in the modern world. I am Lakota by the way.
And I have driven long haul truck for 27 yrs, ( The Nomad in me, always moving, running with the four winds. ), taking some time off to finish re-cooping.
I have discovered new strenghts in Mother Earth here where I live now, the power of the Ocean is incredible, the gentle re-shaping of the sand dunes by the winds breath taking. Don't get me wrong, my heart will always be home in the badlands, but right now I'm taking in as much of this as possible.
Some of the sand dunes here are 150-200 ft tall and run for 50 miles along the coast, I have found small pine forest's with lake's 50yds across at their widest point. Anyway, guess I got way off the original topic, but like you I have found there are few of US here, and I am saddened when I have to admit that many of the Nations Res's that have, shall we say " Hard ", rep's, are actually deserving of them.
But that is getting to deep into things again, the sun is warm, the wind is gentle today, I have 5 new cones to re-pot, and hopefully I have not offended anyone with my :ccc: ramblings.
Take Care Brothers All.
Till next time.
Oh one more quick note, the sweet pine I harvest here on the coastal range is the best tea base I have come across in years!!!

gary18...Stunning pictures Brother and Yes I agree We all need to get back into the mentality at least a little bit of taking the time to feel and see that Spirit move over the world....In times past travelers would meet on the trail or road ...Time stopped for a long while and those teas shared along with stories learning each others languages...Now with the melting pot of the Nations and tribes I am seeing that happen again the time to break trail os over the time of sitting on that trail on a blanket around a fire and sharing tea and time ...As a Shaman of the East finally brought in and trained by One old and wise Black Eagle of the Tribe of Trees...I'm now here in the West that paying those Teaching forward and that gives Me hope ...Young ones 32,s 16th are questioning ...they are seeing ...Those trails of tears will not be forgotten ...But I see a new trail being breached and braved by breeds and bloods like me...Once shunned by the Tribes and Nations they are unfolding blankets in the road... building a fire... and starting the tea...each growing ...and paying that growth forward...It is very nice to see.

And the Spirit out here alive and vital breathing life into all it touches.

But Our roads will cross ... blankets put down ...tea made.

Yes many of those who are leading the way are those that yes, had always been shunned because of mixed blood. When we all know the blood of the Nations has been mixed from the beginings and many forget the oldest of teachings, " Being of the People is not a matter of blood, but a way of life, a preperation of the spirit ", thus a woman or child taken from say a Blackfoot family could be taken by another Nation and become one of that Nation. It has always been so, it is the mixing of blood and Spirits as well, that has kept the Nations from stalemating in thier evelutional growth, and preventing to much inbreeding.
Oh I will have to go for now, want to finish this line but just had something come up that needs tending too. Soon,
