So I was looking around at different CFL bulbs tonight and I wondered what the best value was with CFL's. I put together a price per lumen comparison using the prices from 1000bulbs.com. I went with the warm variety bulbs for comparison's sake. What I found was that the larger bulbs (150watt) are don't necessarly give you the best cost per lumen or even the best lumen per watt.

By the way, the 23 watt bulb that's highlighted in yellow is the air purifying bulb. I found it interesting that it outperforms most bulbs in lumens per watt and isn't all that more expensive in cost per lumens then a 150w bulb. Of course, that's assuming the manufacturer is being truthful about the lumen output.

that's true, but in the end it costs more to operate.

If you were to add up equiv. watts to equal 400w, you'd need quite a few of them and the price would be pretty expensive. Compared to a higher lumen bulb, requiring less number of bulbs.... or something
